(ii) Each ground will be allocated to a relevant Bureau of Meteorology weather station for the purposes of By
Law 14.1 and Clubs notified prior to the start of the season by the General Secretary.
14.3 Thunderstorms and Lightning
(a) Suspension of play due to lightning/thunder
(i) Suspension and resumption of play should follow the “30/30”rule. Play should stop when the flash-to-bang
count is less than 30 seconds, since this indicates that lightning is 10km away. This is associated with
significant risk that the next lightning strike could be at the observer’s location. Thus activity should be
suspended and people moved to designated safe shelters.
(ii) Play shall cease immediately and remain suspended while a thunderstorm is active in the immediate
vicinity.
(b) Resumption of play after lightning/Thunder
Play should not resume until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike.
